Throughout history the Christian community has demonstrated faith in God’s sovereignty in times of panic and public health crisis. The result has been a strong witness for Christ as believers serve their neighbors instead of avoiding all risk of contact. We believe as an organization that we need to try and balance reasonable safety for our staff and those we serve with the opportunity to serve in a time of increased need.

COVID-19 has unexpectedly created a new normal for everyone during this time. We have received many inquiries requesting guidance on staff meetings, ministry meetings and other related services for the staff, youth and families we serve. To this end, we have enacted changes to the way we do business that will balance prudence with our commitment to continue meeting with families and youth as much as possible. This begins with prayer that God would accomplish His will in and through us during this season of community concerns, and that we can respond with confidence and trust in Him no matter what happens.

We have adopted the following changes to our day to day activities:

  • We have cancelled our See the Story Tours for the time being.

  • Staff who are able to effectively work from home are doing so.

  • We will not host club meetings or any other large group student while schools are shut down in keeping with our policy to mirror school leadership’s decisions regarding the health and safety of students.

  • We have closed our ministry centers for the duration of this crisis.

  • We encourage our student ministry staff (including volunteer leaders) to use their time connecting with youth using social media or phone. This is a time when students may have more time on their hands than normal and may need our influence more than normal.

  • Our overall focus is to identify ways to support and serve our teens, clients, families and network of volunteers during this trying time.

We do not want to panic or join in with those whose anxiety is driving them to extreme behavior. At the same time, we wish to be prudent and to protect the people and mission we have been given. We will continue to monitor any new requirements from the State or Local officials as it relates to this situation.

In Him,
Scott Arnold
